After seeing that Twitter doesn’t actually recognize the new gTLDs as real links in Tweets, I was curious to see whether or not Facebook recognizes the new gTLDs as links in posts. If you were to include the URL of a new website that you just put up on a new gTLD, then would Facebook include that URL in the post and change it so it’s a clickable link?
Well, good news! Facebook actually changes links to the new gTLDs into clickable links in posts if you include them in a post. Not only that, Facebook will see that you’ve included a URL in your post and will automatically visit it and attempt to grab an image from the site and post it as a thumbnail and a link.
On Google Plus, they are doing the same thing: posts that include URLs of the new gTLDs are made into clickable links.
But bad news if you’re using Twitter, though. Twitter does not recognize the new gTLDs.
