WisTL Corp has launched a web-based app to help you explore the locations of where TV series and movies were filmed. Through a global map and through “WisTLing-distance”, you can see where stars filmed scenes from your favorite television series or movies.
Where Was Iron Man Filmed?
I used the WisTLing app to explore a few of the movies that they have uploaded to the database of filming locations. For example, one of the movies they have listed is Iron Man. I took a look where Iron Man was filmed:
Exploring further, I found that the casino scenes in Iron Man were filmed at Caesar’s Place in Las Vegas: “Caesar’s Palace plays itself as the location for the the Apogee Award ceremony and also the casino where Tony avoids the award.” This is just one example of one movie that’s listed in the app.
The WisTL App
According to WisTL Corp, the word WisTL comes from “Where is that location?” You can answer that question with the 1,000+ WisTL Stops (filming locations) across 9 genres, 15 countries, 25 US States, 75 US cities so far and counting. WisTL adds locations, countries, US cities and US states continually. Harnessing the power of What3Words, WisTLing lets you put yourself “WisTLing-distance” from where stars filmed scenes from your favorite TV series and movies. What3Words assigned a random, unique three-word address to every 3 meter/10 foot square in the world. You can WisTL the world through a global map or by country, by US state, by US city, by genre or by author. The WisTL web-based app is free for WisTLers. Neither personal information nor login creation is required for use. WisTLers have the option to register to receive a single monthly text message with a link to updates on new titles, recently added app functionality, special offers and drawings.
WisTL sponsorships are annual commitments with discounts available through reciprocal marketing. Global and regional brands support WisTLing through Premier, Major and Category Sponsorships with various financial levels. Businesses, municipalities or organizations nearby filming locations are featured across all applicable WisTL maps for $1.25-$2.00 per day. There is a WisTLers Code of Conduct to facilitate the successful worldwide adoption of WisTLing. Vanessa Silva, inventor of WisTLing, explains, “WisTLing includes a wide variety of location types such as private properties and open, operational businesses in many different settings.
The WisTLers Code of Conduct is a reminder to always be safety-minded, respectful and law-abiding while WisTLing.” WisTLing is an activity for dates, group outings, family time, fandom, vacationing and business travelling downtime. In addition to giving WisTLers a way to create memories with those they like, love or are just getting to know, WisTLing gives the TV and feature film industry a new way to engage current fans while creating new ones. WisTLing intends to have a positive impact on tourism, to help increase revenue for local businesses close to filming locations and to help busy hospitality servers to easily answer the questions their patrons constantly ask, that is, “Where is that location?”
