Accuracy in Media will honor Michelle Malkin and Mark M. Alexander for their outstanding contributions to journalism in a ceremony that’s going to take place during the American Conservative Union’s 2007 Conservative Political Action Conference.
Michelle Malkin is a syndicated columnist, bestselling author, and a FOX News Channel contributor. Mark M. Alexander is the executive editor and publisher of The Patriot Post.
The “Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award” is named for AIM’s founder, Reed Irvine, who was America’s first media watchdog. The Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award was established in 2005 to honor those who have made outstanding contributions to the practice of journalism in the tradition of Reed Irvine by independently covering and reporting on news that was misreported or ignored by the mainstream press.
The ceremony will take place on Thursday, March 1, 2007, 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, Diplomat Room, 2500 Calvert Street, NW, in Washington, DC.
Michelle Malkin will receive the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award for Investigative Journalism in recognition of her work in three 2006 columns on illegal immigration:
– “Racism gets a whitewash”
– “Reconquista is real”
– “‘La Raza’ schools: Your tax dollars at work”
Mark M. Alexander’s May 12, 2006 piece, “Pollaganda — media polls as instruments of propaganda,” earned him the Reed Irvine Accuracy in Media Award for Grassroots Journalism.
