What happens in an internet minute in 2018? Well, a lot more that you or I would think. Every year, @LoriLewis and @OfficiallyChadd compile the numbers–and publish the graphic as seen above.
In an minute, here are 16 things that happen on the internet:
- 973,000 people log into Facebook.
- 18 million text messages are sent.
- 4.3 million videos are viewed on YouTube.
- 375,000 apps are downloaded on the Google Play Store and the App Store.
- 174,000 people are scrolling through Instagram.
- 481,000 tweets are sent.
- 1.1 million swipes occur on Tinder.
- 187 million emails are sent.
- 936,073 views on Twitch
- 67 voice-activated devices are shipped (e.g., Amazon Echos)
- 38 million voice mail messages are left.
- 25,000 GIFs are sent via Facebook Messenger.
- 2.4 Million Snaps are created on Snapchat.
- $862,823 US dollars are spent online.
- 266,000 hours are watched on Netflix.
- 3.7 million search queries are performed on Google.
I’m actually surprised at the number of Amazon Echos that are shipped very minute, I would have thought that that number would be higher than it is. Being in the search industry, I really have to admit that I didn’t know how may search queries are performed on Google every minute. 3.7 million search queries a minute, though, is a lot!
