Example of a 3d Snowman on Google Poly. Google Poly is being shut down.
Google Poly, the website created by Google for users to browse, distribute, and download 3D objects, is shutting down on June 30, 2021.
Google Poly is intended to allow creators to share and access 3D objects, and features a free library containing thousands of 3D objects for that you can use in virtual reality and augmented reality applications. It also has allows you to create an animated GIF of any of the objects, as well.
If you have assets that you have uploaded to Google Poly, then you can bulk download your assets (files) at Google Takeout. Starting early 2021, Swirl creators will be able to use Google Web Designer both to configure 3D models and to build Swirl creatives according to Google.
Google Poly was a great place for finding “royalty-free” 3d objects that you could use in virtual reality and augmented reality apps, but is being shut down. If there’s anything that you’d like to use from Google Poly, I recommend that you start downloading those objects now, before June 30, 2021.
