D3 Global Partners with Identity Digital

Posted on October 23, 2024 Written by Bill Hartzer

In a move that could redefine how domains operate on the internet, D3 Global has teamed up with Identity Digital, a key player in domain names and web technologies. Announced today in Las Vegas, the partnership is designed to bridge the traditional web (Web2) with the evolving decentralized web (Web3) through D3’s platform, DomainFi. The aim is to turn domains into tokenized, real-world assets accessible to billions of users.

A New Vision for Domains: Tokenizing the Internet

D3 Global, known for its cutting-edge internet infrastructure, sees this partnership as a pivotal moment. Fred Hsu, CEO & Co-Founder of D3, expressed his enthusiasm, stating, “This collaboration allows us to build a platform that essentially ‘financializes’ domains. We want every user on the internet to have access to these assets, all while ensuring they’re secure and have low-friction liquidity.”

By harnessing the Domain Name System (DNS), the bedrock of internet addresses, D3 aims to transform how domains function. Rather than just a web address, domains can become valuable, tokenized assets that offer real-world security and ease of use. D3 envisions a future where domains aren’t just placeholders but tangible, accessible assets with financial potential.

The Push Towards Interoperability

Identity Digital, a leader in the domain name space, shares D3’s ambition. Matt Overman, Chief Revenue Officer at Identity Digital, highlighted their joint mission: “Our collaboration with D3 focuses on bringing together traditional and decentralized naming systems in a way that’s scalable and dependable. This growth depends on our platform’s ability to adapt and expand.”

With their combined expertise, the two companies hope to build a bridge that allows seamless interaction between Web2 and Web3 domains. They aim to provide a consistent and reliable domain experience, regardless of the system.

Programs to Empower Developers and Companies Alike

D3 is rolling out two innovative programs aimed at expanding their ecosystem and inviting more players to join the digital domain revolution:

  1. D3 Developer Program: This initiative is set to attract developers and tech builders who want to create the next generation of apps using D3’s DNS Connect. The program offers a wealth of resources, including SDKs, APIs, and even educational content, making it easier for developers to create without dealing with multiple domain services. By streamlining the development process, D3 hopes to foster a dynamic community around DomainFi.
  2. D3 Proof of Ownership Protocol Program: Domain owners and companies managing domains can now tokenize and integrate their assets directly into the D3 network. With over 20 million domains already signed up, the program is off to a flying start. Major industry players, including registries and registrars, have jumped on board, signaling a strong interest in this new digital frontier.

A Look Ahead: The Future of Interoperable Digital Identities

D3’s Co-Founder, Michael Ho, sees an interconnected future. He commented, “The next evolution online is digital identities that work seamlessly across platforms. We’re building the largest ecosystem for DomainFi, and we believe this will unlock massive technical and financial opportunities for developers and businesses alike.”

This partnership, along with the new programs, marks a significant step forward in integrating Web2 and Web3. By merging the old and new, D3 and Identity Digital aim to set a new standard in how domains are used and valued.
