Own The Doge Partners with D3 to Launch .doge Domains

Posted on September 12, 2024 Written by Bill Hartzer

D3 Global, a pioneering internet infrastructure company, has announced an exclusive partnership with Own The Doge, the community behind the Doge NFT. Together, they plan to apply for and secure the .doge Top-Level Domain (TLD), a development that could bring enormous benefits to both the Doge NFT community and the broader internet ecosystem.

The partnership will enable Doge fans and digital communities to seamlessly integrate Doge intellectual property with essential Internet infrastructure. Once approved by the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN), the .doge TLD will provide new opportunities for users to stake their claim in both the traditional Internet and the rapidly expanding Web3 space.

A New Era of Digital Identity

The .doge TLD will allow members of the Doge community to use their personalized .doge domain names in a variety of applications, from standard websites and email addresses to Web3 applications like digital wallets and decentralized credentials. Imagine having yourname.doge as a website, a multichain wallet address, or even as a verified username on Web3 platforms. This development brings a new level of flexibility and utility to the Doge community, giving them the tools to further solidify their presence online.

Fred Hsu, CEO and co-founder of D3, expressed the vision behind this ambitious collaboration: “We’re building the future of Internet infrastructure. While many Web3 communities have attempted to build their own name systems, these solutions are not interoperable with the broader Internet. Our partnership with Own The Doge will help strengthen their community by ultimately bridging the infrastructure and utility gap between Web2 and Web3 domains and identities.”

Empowering the Doge Community

For Own The Doge, this collaboration is about more than just technology. It’s about empowering their global community, known for its ethos of “Doing Only Good Everyday” (Doge). Smoke, COO of Own The Doge, emphasized the importance of this next step: “At Own The Doge, our community is our core, and we’re thrilled to start the journey of offering every member of our ecosystem their unique .doge domain name, in collaboration with D3.”

He further added that with domains integral to billions of users worldwide, this innovation will enable Doge fans to seamlessly merge into the wider internet landscape while promoting the playful and philanthropic spirit that Doge is known for.

The Road to ICANN Approval

This announcement comes at a critical time, as D3 and Own The Doge prepare to submit their application for the .doge TLD during ICANN’s highly anticipated upcoming application window. This is only the second major TLD application window in ICANN history, following the last one in 2012. If approved, this new TLD will offer Web3 communities, starting with the Doge community, a powerful opportunity to establish a stronger digital identity.

D3 is already a trusted domain partner for several Web3 ecosystems, and this partnership marks the beginning of what could be a new era in internet domains. By merging real-world assets with blockchain technology, the D3 network plans to introduce true interoperability between traditional domains and the decentralized world, tapping into a network used by over five billion people.

Looking Ahead

This partnership between D3 and Own The Doge is a significant step toward creating a unified digital ecosystem that blurs the lines between Web2 and Web3. As the world continues to explore the possibilities of decentralized internet infrastructure, the .doge TLD could become a pioneering model for how future domain names will be utilized, managed, and owned.

Stay tuned for updates on the application process and get ready to claim your place in the Doge universe with your very own .doge domain.
