A domain name is often the single point of failure for a business online. Whoever controls the domain controls the website, the email and every login that relies on that email for password resets. When a domain is hijacked, transferred without authorization, suspended over WHOIS data or allowed to expire, the damage is immediate.
Through my domain recovery work at DNAccess, I see the same patterns repeatedly: compromised registrar accounts, outdated contact information, registrar policies that surprise the owner, and phishing messages designed to look like renewal notices. This hub gathers my coverage of domain hijacking and recovery, WHOIS privacy and data exposure, registrar disputes, UDRP (the Uniform Domain-Name Dispute-Resolution Policy) and domain-related scams. The preventive steps are consistent across nearly every case: multi-factor authentication on the registrar account, a registrar lock or registry lock on valuable names, and a contact email on a different domain from the one being protected.
