AR.IO Launches Credit Card Payments for Permanent Web3 Domains on Arweave

AR.IO has announced that users can now purchase credits for ArNS, its decentralized domain name and web hosting system, using credit cards. This marks a major shift for the platform, which until now allowed payments only through cryptocurrencies like $AR, $MATIC, $SOL, and $ETH.

The company introduced this feature through its open-source “Turbo” bundler, which bridges fiat transactions to the Arweave ecosystem. Turbo ensures that customers can make one-time credit card purchases for uploading content and securing domains — no cryptocurrency wallet required.

Breaking Away From Traditional Domain Models

Traditional domain name systems (DNS) depend on centralized control. They involve constant renewals, monthly or annual fees, and the risk of service loss if payments lapse or providers fail.

ArNS (Arweave Name System) flips this model. It gives users the ability to permanently own a domain without renewals or subscriptions. Once purchased, these names — and the data attached to them — are stored permanently on Arweave’s decentralized storage system. With more than 400 active gateways in AR.IO’s network, content remains globally accessible at all times.

A Direct Quote From Leadership

Phil Mataras, founder and CEO of AR.IO, emphasized the importance of this change. He stated, “With ArNS and its permanent purchase option, you will never, ever, lose access to your domain name or your website because you forgot to pay a subscription or the chain or provider removed or lost your data. This is a unique feature that sets us apart from any other DNS provider out there.”

His remarks underline the company’s focus on protecting digital identities against disruptions caused by missed payments or centralized provider shutdowns.

What Makes ArNS Stand Out

ArNS domains are not static records. They are programmable smart contracts capable of activating integrations, on-chain logic, and automations. This makes them adaptable tools for developers, creators, and businesses that want their online presence to stay live — permanently.

Each name purchased through ArNS serves as a gateway for apps, websites, and stored data. All entries are logged immutably on-chain, creating tamper-proof records that ensure reliability and security.

The Broader Mission

AR.IO positions itself as the first permanent cloud network. Built entirely on the Arweave blockchain, it delivers decentralized, censorship-resistant access to data, applications, and domains. Its gateway network is incentivized, boosting reliability and ensuring that content is not subject to removal by a single authority.

The company’s vision extends beyond commercial gains. AR.IO aims to build an internet that promotes fairness, autonomy, and resilience — giving control back to users and shielding digital identities from outside interference.

With the addition of credit card payments, AR.IO lowers the barriers for users who want to secure permanent domains and hosting through ArNS. This move simplifies access to the decentralized web, opening doors for those who prefer fiat transactions over cryptocurrency.

As digital ownership becomes more important in an era of increasing data manipulation and deletion, AR.IO’s approach offers a lasting, secure alternative. Brands, developers, and individuals now have an easier way to safeguard their online presence permanently.
