Kevin Brilliant left behind a coveted role as a behavioral scientist with the Chicago Bulls to tackle something even bigger: the mental health crisis. Inspired by his personal struggles and a career spent studying behavior, Brilliant is set to launch Take The Win™, the world’s first Social Gratitude™ platform.
Unlike traditional social media platforms that thrive on likes, followers, and algorithms, Take The Win™ focuses on fostering positive habits. The app is designed to celebrate personal milestones, big or small, while providing a space for users to reflect and share their daily victories with close-knit communities.
The Origin Story
The concept for Take The Win™ took root during Brilliant’s mental health journey in 2019. After years of witnessing the toll of toxic social media and reading alarming reports about rising anxiety and depression, Brilliant saw an opportunity to create something meaningful.
Drawing on nearly a decade of experience in behavioral science and sports marketing, he envisioned a digital “locker room” where users could support each other in achieving their goals, one day and one win at a time.
“I wanted to build a space where people could focus on what truly matters—gratitude, personal growth, and community—without the noise of likes or follower counts,” said Brilliant.
How It Works
Set to launch in January 2025, Take The Win™ combines sports-inspired design with behavioral science. Users can:
- Set and Track Goals: The app’s Win Wall™ helps users visualize their achievements and stay on track.
- Celebrate Daily Victories: Whether it’s drinking enough water, finishing a workout, or reaching a career milestone, every win counts.
- Foster Real Connections: Unlike traditional platforms, this one prioritizes smaller, more meaningful groups over broadcasting to the masses.
Brilliant describes the app as “your favorite locker room, wherever you go.”
The Right Launch at the Right Time
The timing of Take The Win™ couldn’t be better. Following basketball icon LeBron James’ public break from social media, the conversation about digital well-being is louder than ever.
The app’s gamified approach to gratitude is a welcome change for anyone tired of the pressures associated with traditional platforms. By focusing on positivity and achievable goals, it aims to help users cultivate better habits in their everyday lives.
Backing From Sports and Media Heavyweights
The platform has drawn impressive support from prominent figures in sports and media. Investors include Memphis Grizzlies Head Coach Taylor Jenkins and award-winning journalist Sarah Spain. Other contributors hail from professional and collegiate sports, bringing a wealth of experience and credibility to the project.
A Movement in the Making
As social media giants face growing scrutiny, platforms like Take The Win™ offer an optimistic alternative. By focusing on gratitude and personal wins, Brilliant and his team hope to inspire users to reclaim the joy in everyday moments.
Starting in December, the app will be available for download on the Apple Store, just in time for New Year’s resolutions.
With Take The Win™, the conversation around mental health and technology might finally get the shakeup it needs.
