Perez Hilton, the blogger best know for his musings about celebrities’ nightly “mishaps”, will host the official launch party of PMbuzz.com, the world’s first social networking site dedicated to nightlife. The launch party will be held in New York City at The Grand (41 East 58th Street between Madison and Park Avenues) on Thursday, August 9, 2007 from 9:00-11:00pm.
PMBuzz.com members will get in free between 9:00 and 10:00PM. PMBuzz.com is also running a contest to give away a free ride to the event in Perez Hilton’s limousine; semi-finalists will be contacted via email and the first one to respond will win the free ride to the event (see PMBuzz.com for details).
The official PMBuzz.com launch party is being sponsored by Glaceau’s ‘vitaminenergy(TM)’, Vitamin Water’s new take on energy drinks, a brand (similar to PMbuzz.com) that is also devoted to reshaping the nightlife scene. Insisting that ‘Nutrients are the New Energy’, Glaceau has introduced ‘vitaminenergy(TM)’, aptly positioned to improve and energize the nightlife experience by providing healthy ingredients to liquid refreshments.
Discounted “Vitatinis” (a drink made up of ‘vitaminenergy(TM))’ and vodka) will be served at the party.
There are already many social networking sites that have “communities” built around the nightlife scene, but to date there aren’t any social networking sites that are dedicated exclusively to nightlife and partying after dark. Some of the communities that are a part of Facebook and MySpace focus on club events, concerts, and performances and are geared toward certain lifestyles. PMBuzz.com is the first social network to take that one step further by billing itself as “the nightlife social network”.
The August 9th launch party, being held at The Grand in New York City, is the first in a series of planned events. Other events are currently being planned for other U.S. markets.
PMbuzz.com was developed by Billboard Bands LLC, a company founded in 2006. Billboard Bands is probably best known as the exclusive provider of advertising-supported wristbands to 210 nightclubs in the top 21 U.S. markets. Billboard Bands’ focus on the nightclub space – and the upwardly mobile club-goers – spawned the idea of PMbuzz.com, and the opportunity to create the first social network site geared to the same audience. Billboard Bands is headquartered in South Norwalk, Connecticut.
