The Dallas chapter of the Social Media Club, Social Media Club Dallas, is has decided to distance itself or disassociate itself from the national chapter of the Social Media Club. The Dallas organization will soon rebrand under a new name and new logo.
In a letter to members, Mark Barrera, President of Social Media Club Dallas, explained:
Recently, the Social Media Club has changed leadership and renewed its focus for the group. As part of this transition, SMC Dallas faced a decision to either become an official chapter of the organization or disaffiliate from the national chapter. After much debate, the Board of Directors has decided that it is the best interest of the organization to continue operating independent of the Social Media Club.
So, what does this mean for the organization? There really won’t be any changes. The Social Media Club Dallas will have a new name and a new logo, which will be decided on at a special meeting (for ambassadors and business members only) prior to their January 2014 meeting. Invites to that meeting should be sent out shortly.
As soon as there is a new logo and a new name, I’ll be sure to report it here on my blog. Be sure to sign up for updates (see the top right of sidebar) to make sure you hear about it when it’s posted.
