Google Anymote

Posted By Bill Hartzer on April 4, 2011at 11:09 am

Does Google have a plan to launch a new product or service called Google Anymote? It appears that Google is in the process of working on a new Google product related to Google TV.

google anymote

Google has just recently registered a few new domain names that may be an indication of a new Google service. It appears that the new service or perhaps this new product will be called “Google Anymote”. New recently bought these domain names:

anymote.com
anymotetv.com
googleanymote.com
tvanymote.com

Here’s the actual whois record for Anymote.com:

Domain servers in listed order:

ns2.google.com
ns4.google.com
ns3.google.com
ns1.google.com

And based on the fact that there are several other domain names that include “Anymote” and TV, it appears that Google’s plans for this new Google Anymote service will be related to Google TV somehow.

My personal speculation for the use of the name Google Anymote:

— A physical remote control for your TV.
— Part Android, part TV, combined.

Google Anymote could actually be some sort of new operation system, that would be kind of like Google Android, but something related to TV and viewing Internet TV. I could totally see Google naming something that is the next generation of Google’s Android system Google Anymote. It just make sense to me.

Certainly this is only speculation on my part at this point, as Google Anymote has not been announced yet, and there are currently no trademarks that have been registered yet.
