Does Google Index Blockchain URLs?

Posted on December 21, 2017 Written by Bill Hartzer

Blockchain certainly has been on everyone’s mind lately, especially since Bitcoin’s value continues to go up. A lot more companies are accepting Bitcoin, even myself. In fact, I’ve been accepting Bitcoin for SEO services since 2013. I took a look at Google’s search results, and it’s interesting to note that Google is indexing over 8.7 million Blockchain URLs.

Just for the website blockchain.info, Google has over 8.7 million URLs indexed. Since the values of each account are public, the balance and transaction data are right there for anyone to see. There isn’t any identifiable information there (who owns the account), so I wouldn’t be too worried about it, unless someone publishes their public key on another website.

John Mueller, a Google representative, Tweeted today about blockchain links:

TIL You can drop links in the #blockchain , but you have to pay for them….they don’t pass PR, so you should be OK. No, I don’t know how to disavow a blockchain link either. — @johnmu

You do have to pay for those links, as John Mueller suggest, but I don’t think that would stop someone from trying to get a link to their website in there, would it? Even though the links don’t pass PageRank?
