Got a Look-Alike? iLookLikeYou Social Network Launches

Posted on July 1, 2008 Written by Bill Hartzer

How many times has someone come up to you and say, “I know someone who looks exactly like you!” Just yesterday I was at a car dealership and one of the service guys started talking to my wife, just as if he has known her for years. The problem is that my wife has never seen that guy before. He must have thought that he was talking to her look-alike.

Do you have a look-alike? Apparently we all do. Now we all have our chance to really find our look-alike with the new social network, iLookLikeYou.com.

Thanks to the recent technological advances in facial recognition technology (FRT) and the growing popularity of social networking websites, iLookLikeYou.com can help you find your look-alike too.

ILookLikeYou.com is a free social network where you upload a your photo (the front of you) and it will then be matched against other photos of other people in the community. Then, the top 10 look-alikes is displayed–along with your “match percentage”.

So, I took a shot at it and added my photo and went through the process. Based on the photos below, do you think I have a twin out there?

You can select which look-alikes you like best and put them on display on your profile page. You can also add alternative photos to your personal photo gallery. These photos can help other members decide how much of a look-alike you really are. After you have found your look-alikes, the benefits of a social network kick in. If you want, you can blog about your experience in finding your twin, you can participate in forums, or even contact friends or interact with other members.

The iLookLikeYou social network was created to find look-alikes around the world. But now, attention is being drawn to its potential for finding identical twins separated at birth…and to finding missing people. With the exponential growth of social networking and FRT’s innate ability for finding identical matches, it is really only a matter of time. Missing persons can be added to iLookLikeYou.com as easily as a new member.

The founders of iLookLikeYou.com, Wayne Adam and Kirk Johnson, both from Ontario, Canada, have created the network with member privacy in mind. The site only requires a username and an email address to join. It is very difficult for anyone to find a member if they do not have an exact username as their search feature will only pull up exact usernames and does not search for members by email addresses. Any other information you add is up to you.

Joining iLookLikeYou.com is fast and easy. Your search is over with the click of a button. With all the fun, ease of use, and security taken care of, make sure you drop by and give iLookLikeYou.com a try.

I went through the signup process, which was, in fact, pretty easy. Just make sure that you have a photo available or take out your webcam and take another one. If you would like to view my bhartzer profile, feel free to do so; would love it if you’d add me as a friend while you’re at it.
