SEO Community Rallies as GoFundMe Is Launched for Andy Drinkwater’s Family

Posted on January 7, 2026 Written by Bill Hartzer

Andy Drinkwater and Craig Campbell

A GoFundMe account has been set up to support the family of Andy Drinkwater, a long-time and well-respected member of the SEO community who sadly passed away just before Christmas.

The fundraiser was created by Craig Campbell, who said he had been contacted by many people across the SEO industry asking if there was a way to help Andy’s family with funeral expenses. After receiving those messages, Craig decided to take action and set up the GoFundMe so that anyone who wishes to contribute has a clear and direct way to do so.

According to Craig, the intent behind the fundraiser is simple. It gives friends, colleagues, and members of the SEO community an opportunity to support Andy’s family during a difficult time, in a way that feels practical and meaningful. Contributions are entirely optional, but for those who wanted to help and didn’t know how, the page provides that outlet.

Andy Drinkwater was a UK-based SEO who had been working in search since around the year 2000. Over more than 25 years in the industry, he became known not just for his technical knowledge, but for his willingness to share what he knew. Andy regularly contributed insights through forums, social media discussions, videos, podcasts, and community conversations. A simple search of his name surfaces years of content where he openly discussed SEO strategies, experiments, and lessons learned.

Education and community were central to Andy’s approach. He frequently attended SEO meetups and local events, often saying that he loved being in rooms full of people who were just as passionate about search as he was. Those who met him at conferences or smaller gatherings often recall long conversations about algorithms, testing ideas, and the future of search.

Andy’s passing has been felt deeply across the SEO community, particularly among those who learned from his content or connected with him at events over the years. The GoFundMe stands as a reflection of that impact, and of an industry coming together to support one of its own and his family when it matters most.
