Search Engine Optimization Job Opening: Ecommerce SEO

An ecommerce company in the New York area (New York City) is seeking what they are calling an “SEO ninja”. Here is the job description if you are interested.

We are seeking an SEO guru who will translate overall business goals into successful search engine optimization strategies and tactical plans. The SEO Lead will be responsible for top to bottom management of SEO activities. He/she is charged with optimizing various site elements, including site structure, linking, and keywords, as well as effectively reporting on both qualitative and quantitative trends for ongoing SEO efforts. This person will work in hand in hand with the Development, Marketing and Content teams to achieve the desired goals centered around increasing qualified, converting traffic to dealnews.

Responsibilities:

— Driving Traffic via SEO activities

— Create and execute strategies for growing traffic, with a focus on increasing qualified UVs and visits from organic search optimization, yielding increased conversions and revenue.

— Guide strategic and tactical direction on optimization; improving site architecture, URL mapping, page construction, navigation, internal linking / clustering of content, hierarchy of links, keyword lists, and copywriting.

— Conduct periodic site audits

— Identify and design internal and external link building programs

— Monitor site performance day to day, and drive assignment of proper URLs, title tags and meta data; troubleshoot where needed

— Analyze & report on competitors

— Assess opportunity and risks of new initiatives and determine priorities for scalable solutions.

Reporting & Analysis

— Define, monitor, and analyze SEO key performance indicators (KPI’s) to continually improve campaigns

— Report on and analyze site & traffic trends (via Google and Yahoo Analytics)

— Update team on newest developments in search

— Define and monitor keyword rankings

— Surface and effectively communicate trends and key metrics in digestible format/dashboards for management

— Analyze website performance, trends and click stream path activity to provide data driven business insights leading to improvements to the website experience

Partnering Internally

— Collaborate with development team and oversee implementation of SEO strategies

— Implement industry-wide “best practices” and ensure clear documentation and guidance is provided to the right areas within the organization.

— Work with VP and Marketing team to optimize new initiatives and monitor market trends. Keep abreast of developments in the channel and communicate impact to key stakeholders

Other

— Drive SEM and assist with other customer acquisition efforts as needed

— Contribute to A/B Testing plans; optimizing page layout, usability and conversion

— Aid in the management of content-site related projects

Qualifications:

— 4-7 years SEO experience; strategy and implementation

— Well versed in keyword research, web analytics and link building tools (Google Analytics, SEOmoz; other tools such as Comscore, Hitwise and Raven a plus)

— SEM campaign experience; understanding of customer lifetime value

— Experience with e-commerce sites a plus

— A/B Testing, optimizing page layout, usability and conversion a plus

— Proactive and enjoys a fast paced, collaborative/team environment

— Effective communicator with the ability to work on cross functional teams in both leadership and member roles

— Strong understanding of technical SEO skills, including ability to evaluate and modify HTML for SEO purposes
