Why Hashtags are Spam #hashtags

Posted on June 12, 2013 Written by Bill Hartzer

Hashtags are spam that need to go away. According to reports that have hit the mainstream media lately, Facebook has just (finally) gotten #hashtags. Facebook tends to be a “late adopter” of a lot of technology and features, so you know that when Facebook “finally” gets a feature such as hashtags, the feature is on its way out. But I digress. Why I am Suing Facebook

Posted on February 6, 2013 Written by Bill Hartzer

As you may or may not know, I have always been an early adopter of new technology, especially just about anything online. And social media is no exception. In fact, in the past, I have been a power user over at tons of social media sites in the past, including many that have been taken down, bought out, and even some that still exist–along with some that are just getting started. Does Twitter and Facebook Endorse and Encourage Reverse Social Media Hijacking?

Posted on October 12, 2012 Written by Bill Hartzer

reverse social media hijacking

Twitter and Facebook, as well as many other social media networks such as Pinterest, both encourage and endorse reverse social media hijacking. The current trademark policies of these social media networks allow (and encourage) trademark holders to take over social media IDs, whether that ID was originally register in bad faith or not. What is disturbing to me is that the current policies of Twitter, Facebook, and other social media networks are the complete reverse of the established domain name policies of ICANN (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers) that address Reverse Domain Name Hijacking. Pinterest Review: What is So Pinteresting About Pinterest?

Posted on March 13, 2012 Written by Bill Hartzer

pinterest reviewThis is my Pinterest Review from 2012, when Pinterest first started.

Unlike other social media sites where the main focus is to build a profile, with Pinterest, the emphasis is on “pinning” pictures that interest you to your various pin boards (hence the name Pinterest). From there, you can vote up pinned pictures, or make comments. Getting started with Pinterest is easy, but getting in is not quite as simple. Here’s my Pinterest Review. [Read more…]
