Sellers Playbook and Exposure Marketing Charged by FTC for Amazon Scheme

FTC complaint, Sellers Playbook

Sellers Playbook and Exposure Marketing Company, along with its owners, have been charged by the US Federal Trade Commission and the State of Minnesota with running a large business opportunity scheme.

According to an FTC statement, “The FTC and the Minnesota Attorney General’s Office allege that Sellers Playbook lured consumers into buying its expensive “system” by claiming that purchasers were likely to earn thousands of dollars per month selling products on Amazon. The company used false and unsubstantiated claims, such as make “$20,000 a month” and “Potential Net Profit: $1,287,463.38.” Few, if any, consumers achieved these results, and most lost money.”

The FTC went on to say that “Jessie Conners Tieva and Exposure Marketing Company previously promoted, sold and benefited from a similar scheme, known as FBA Stores, which ceased operation in March 2018 as a result of an FTC enforcement action.”

The defendants, purported to provide prospective purchasers with a system for earning thousands of dollars a month as third-party sellers on Amazon.com. The FTC and the State of Minnesota, in the complaint, claims that “defendants formulated, planned, directed, and controlled their deceptive advertising, marketing, distributing, promoting, and selling of the “FBA Stores” and/or “Sellers Playbook” goods and services to consumers from their principal place of business in New Hope, Minnesota. In addition, numerous circumstances relating to Defendants’ deceptive advertising, marketing, distributing, promoting, and selling of the “FBA Stores” and/or ” Sellers Playbook”.

FBA Stores also held workshops. During its three-day workshops, FBA Stores LLC sold packages like a $34,995 “Diamond” enrollment which included, among other things, “16 Personal 1 on 1 Coaching Sessions.” False earnings claims permeated FBA Stores’s three-day workshops according to the FTC complaint.
