iWon.com and iWon Email Shutting Down

Posted on July 5, 2017 Written by Bill Hartzer

Do you remember the iWon.com website? It was a web portal that included a search engine, but you could “win” rewards and prizes for using their site, up to a certain number of times per day. The more you used the site the more you could win entries into the money that they were giving away each, and every day. A lot of people started using iWon Email years ago and still rely on iWon email to this day, but it’s going away starting on October 2, 2017.

iwon.com site

I never really spent a whole lot of time on their site, but I remember having an iwon free account and at least entering something every so often. But I never really did win anything. Or maybe I did? I honestly don’t remember. As I recall, the IAC search (IAC owns iWon.com) was pretty much using another search engine’s results (I believe it’s was Google’s search results).

On January 6, 2016, at the end of the day, they will be finally shutting down the iWon.com website, and you will no longer have access to your account there. This also affects the iWon email service, as well. So, since you won’t have an account there, you will not have access to your iWon email after October 2, 2017.

After many years, we have decided to shut down the IWON website. The site will be available until the end of day, January 6th, 2016. Please visit www.gamingwonderland.com for the latest in online games.

If you’re an iWon email accountholder, will still be able to access your email by logging in through the following URL: http://cc.iwon.com/btlogin/login2.html. Please update your bookmarks accordingly.

Thank you for your years of loyalty using the IWON website!”

iwon.com shutting down

Back in 2012, iWon.com posted that they weren’t shutting down, which is odd because the blog theme that they use on there is a default WordPress theme. Perhaps it was just their way of trying to keep users around and get them to keep playing on the site.

Looking back at the archive.org site and Google’s search results, it looks like the old version of the site was changed around May 10, 2015, as they said that that was the time they were closing it down: “After many years, we have decided to shut down the iWon search portal website. The site will be available until end of day, May 10th, 2015.”

I have received emails from people wanting to know how to access their iWon email services. As far as I know, you can no longer get access to your iWon emails, so you’ll need to use a service like Google’s Gmail or Yahoo! Mail for a free service. I do recommend that instead of using iWon email or a free email service, you can get you own domain name. As long as you pay for your domain name every year, you will have access to your email. So it won’t get taken down, ever.

iWon email will be shut down October 2, 2017 according to their website:

As of October 2, 2017, iWon Email will be shut down. If you are an iWon Email account holder, please log in and save all information you wish to save. After October 2, 2017, you will not be able to access your emails.

So, go over to the iWon website and download your iWon email first. Then, go get your own domain name or sign up for Gmail or Yahoo! Mail. I recommend getting your own domain name, though, as it won’t go down.
