According to a report at SEM Clubhouse, Google’s latest search network partner is MySpace. This means that if you are a Google AdWords customer, your ads will now appear on MySpace.com. If you go to the home page of MySpace.com you will see the ads show up. They also reportedly show up on the other pages, as well.
Google’s AdSense for Search has gone live on MySpace.com. Clients currently running ads on Google’s Search Network are now eligible to have their ads served on MySpace.com searches for US-based traffic only.
This is good and bad news. I have to admit that MySpace has a lot of traffic. However, it just so happens that the visitors on MySpace don’t really click on ads and they generally don’t buy stuff. So, your conversion rate will probably fall once your Google AdWords ads start showing up there.
The bad news is that you cannot opt out of this additional search network. There will be a lot more ads showing up, but they’re showing up on MySpace: a place that is notorious for lots of impressions, a few clicks, and not very good conversions.
A special hat tip to SEM Clubhouse for breaking this news.
