Traject Data Now Tracks AI Search Results on Google

Posted on November 12, 2024 Written by Bill Hartzer

Traject Data has launched a tool that extracts crucial insights from Google’s AI overview (AIO) search results. Based in Westminster, Colorado, Traject Data is committed to helping brands enter the growing field of Generative Engine Optimization (GEO) by offering tools to analyze and adapt content for the AI-driven world of generative search.

Traject Data’s new capability arrives as generative AI search transforms traditional SEO. Today’s generative search results are designed to deliver faster, more tailored answers, squeezing the space available for traditional organic rankings. This shift means brands have to compete not only for a high Google ranking but also for prominence within AI-generated answer engines.

This tool captures details on AI-generated content structures, keywords, topics, and sources that are fast becoming essential to digital marketing strategies. Leonardo Gallina, SEO consultant at Orange Line, a key Traject Data partner, noted, “Clients worldwide are increasingly interested in Google’s AIO search results data. Traject Data’s tool empowers us to create customized solutions that meet client needs and optimize budget use.”

So, what does Traject Data’s AIO feature actually do for marketers?

  1. Content Structure Analysis: Marketers can now dissect AI-generated content structures, tracking the trending topics, headers, lists, and sources that make up Google’s AI overviews.
  2. Content Adaptation: With detailed AIO data, users can better understand shifts in the search algorithm and refine keyword strategies accordingly.
  3. Optimizing for Generative Search: AIO data offers insights on how to increase visibility in this new search environment, helping brands get in front of their audiences more effectively.

For users ready to take advantage of this feature, platforms like SerpWow, Scale SERP, and VALUE SERP now provide Google AI Overviews data. Here’s how it works:

  1. Requesting AI Overview Data: In SerpWow, set engine=google and include the parameter include_ai_overview=true in the request. Specify .com as the domain and use desktop search only, as mobile is not yet supported.
  2. Data Returned: Traject Data’s tool captures information on both the AIO banner and the contents. Users receive the following fields:
    • ai_overview_banner: The banner displayed in AIO results.
    • ai_overview_contents: This includes types such as headers or lists and associated text.
    • ai_overview_sources: Details include the source title, description, URL, image, and source name.

As Traject Data CEO Rochelle Thielen explains, “Providing brands with Google AIO search results is just the beginning. We’re committed to helping our customers stay on the leading edge of digital marketing.” Traject Data is positioning itself to help brands gain an early advantage in the evolving landscape of generative search.
