Google AdWords Partners with MySpace
According to a report at SEM Clubhouse, Google’s latest search network partner is MySpace. This means that if you are a Google AdWords customer, your ads will now appear on MySpace.com. If you go to the home page of MySpace.com you will see the ads show up. They also reportedly show up on the other pages, as well.
Google’s AdSense for Search has gone live on MySpace.com. Clients currently running ads on Google’s Search Network are now eligible to have their ads served on MySpace.com searches for US-based traffic only.
This is good and bad news. I have to admit that MySpace has a lot of traffic. However, it just so happens that the visitors on MySpace don’t really click on ads and they generally don’t buy stuff. So, your conversion rate will probably fall once your Google AdWords ads start showing up there.
The bad news is that you cannot opt out of this additional search network. There will be a lot more ads showing up, but they’re showing up on MySpace: a place that is notorious for lots of impressions, a few clicks, and not very good conversions.
A special hat tip to SEM Clubhouse for breaking this news.

Turns out that if you opt out of the search network then it’s possible to make sure that your ads won’t show up on MySpace.com. I have a feeling, though, that some advertisers are going to be quite surprised by the traffic when they check their accounts on Monday.

That’s good for Myspace and Google, but is it really that good for AdWords users?

Great news for google and myspace, deffinately. Great news for advertisers, probably not. Who knows though, unless we actually go try advertising on myspace? Great post!

I would say its great for everyone, except for adwords clients who heavily rely on high conversion rates. Having ads on myspace certainly helps me, even if my conversion rate goes down. I’d rather have ads on myspace than not.

I don’t know if it is a good or a bad thing for Google Adword’s clients to have adds on Myspace. There is so many kids and teenagers on Myspace, it wouldn’t surprise me if your conversion rate goes down. Even if they do click, they aren’t likely to buy something.
