Fake Birth Date Used on Google and Apple Accounts Is on Credit Report

Posted on August 17, 2020 Written by Bill Hartzer

fake birthday on my Google and Apple ID account

A Reddit user, Reckoner6777, set up a Google Account and an Apple ID with a fake birth date. According to the user, they only used this fake birthdate with Google and Apple. Now, however, that fake birth date is showing up on the user’s credit report.

There are a few reasons why this could happened:

  • The user used the Apple ID to try to obtain an Apple Card. In that case, the credit bureaus could then be notified, as the user applied for credit.
  • The user has a Google Account that is using Google Analytics–it’s possible that Google Analytics sold the data. I haven’t reviewed the TOS of Google Analytics and have not verified this, though.
  • The Google Account has been verified with a phone number (a mobile/cellular phone). Then, that data has been associated with the Google Account.
  • The user used the information from the Google Account and the Apple ID to auto-fill out a credit application online, without updating the birth date on the application. Therefore, that application would then be reported to the credit reporting agency.

Most likely it’s the final scenario above, as a lot of online forms will allow you to auto-fill information that’s saved in the browser, or information from a Google Account and/or Apple Account. The allow you to log in with your Google Account or Apple ID.
