XYZ Launches 1.111B Class Domains

Posted on June 1, 2017 Written by Bill Hartzer

1.111B Class

The .XYZ Registry has launched 1.111B Class, a new ongoing promotion for certain .XYZ domain names. Every domain name that’s a 6-digit, 7-digit, 8-digit, and 9-digit numeric .xyz domain will be $.99 cents to register, renew, and transfer. And that’s just not for the first year–it’s forever. That 1.111 billion domain names, thus this promotion is called “1.111B Class”.

There are so many interesting options for these numeric domains–especially with the Internet of Things. As .XYZ explained in their email this morning, there are a lot of uses for these $.99 cent domain names. For example:

— use the domain to test an app
— use the domain to redirect to a post or page on your site (as a URL shortener)
— use the domain as a VOIP address.
— register the domain name of your phone number (e.g., 2142364378.xyz)
— serial numbers
— dates
— ZIP codes
— ID numbers
— T9 phases
— Tradeable assets or tools for digital currencies.

Daniel Negari, CEO of .XYZ said this:

“I launched .xyz to bring competition, choice, and innovation to the market. The 1.111B Class is a platform for the future of the internet to connect and be traded. Never before has there been a DNS solution with such nominal carry costs and global accessibility. With Bitcoin at $2,700 and IPv4 addresses at $15 each in bulk, $0.99 per year is pretty attractive. I am confident people will innovate on our offering.”

At only $.99 cents per year to register, renew, and transfer, you should definitely go out and register one (or several) of these domains. Certainly one good use would be for a development site. If you’re working on a new web design for your website, why not use a specific number for that website, block the search engines from indexing it, and allow your clients to see the site live–just give them the URL.

I also think that there are some interesting uses for the domains tied to a phone or assigning a domain to a specific IOT device.

There are a few registrars that are partnering with .XYZ for this ongoing promotion, like Uniregistry, GoDaddy, and Name.com. I’m sure that others will also be offering this promotion, as well.
