AI-generated deception is no longer a future problem. It’s already here—and it’s getting better. In response, GetReal Security has unveiled a new platform that promises to help companies, media organizations, and government agencies figure out what’s real and what isn’t in real time.
On Wednesday, the San Mateo-based company launched its new digital forensics platform. Built to catch AI-generated media, including deepfakes and impersonation attacks, the system combines software, services, and expert support under one roof. The timing couldn’t be better. Across industries, leaders are facing a growing wave of AI-powered fraud—voice cloning, video hoaxes, synthetic media—making it harder to trust what they see and hear.
One Platform. Three Media Types. All Business-Critical.
This isn’t just a filter for suspicious memes. GetReal’s platform reviews and authenticates files and streams in real time, across images, audio, and video. That includes everything from a CEO’s video town hall to the voice in a customer service call.
The system combines artificial intelligence, statistical analysis, and digital forensics to flag manipulated content before it spreads or causes harm. It integrates with other enterprise systems via APIs and can be accessed through a web interface. It’s built for scale.
Why It Matters Now
The team at GetReal says companies can’t rely on old-school training and legacy antivirus tools to defend against these new threats. “The threat of deepfakes and manipulated media is more than one expert can handle alone,” said Dr. Hany Farid, the company’s Co-Founder and Chief Science Officer.
Farid is a heavyweight in media forensics and helped design the new system. “By analyzing audio, video, and images both live and on-demand, we’re giving organizations the tools they need to restore trust—especially when it matters most,” he said.
From Spotting Threats to Responding Fast
GetReal’s system isn’t just for detection. It’s built to handle every phase of a digital threat—from prevention to incident response. Here’s how the company breaks it down:
GetReal Prepare
Focuses on risk assessments and policy development. GetReal works directly with executive teams to help assess exposure and set up prevention strategies before a crisis hits.
GetReal Inspect
Lets teams upload suspicious media—images, voice recordings, or videos—for fast, automated forensic analysis. This feature targets impersonation threats and fake digital content before they reach executives or customers.
GetReal Protect
Monitors live audio and video streams, analyzing them in real time. The goal? Catch the fakes before they slip into business systems or communications.
GetReal Respond
When serious incidents happen, GetReal steps in with forensic experts to handle the investigation. Their team analyzes the incident and provides support for recovery, communication, and mitigation.
Real Investment in a Real Threat
Alongside the launch, GetReal announced it has raised $17.5 million in Series A funding. The investment will go into research, development, and building out go-to-market teams.
Jim Brennan, Chief Product & Technology Officer at GetReal, says the mission is simple: “Organizations need to trust the content they rely on, whether it’s internal or external. Our platform does just that. It brings together everything a company needs to make real-time, high-stakes decisions with confidence.”
The funding comes from Ballistic Ventures, a firm that backs companies focused solely on cybersecurity. It’s also the group that helped incubate GetReal Security in its early days.
A Wider Warning to Industry
GetReal’s launch comes at a time when AI-fueled misinformation is rising fast. Deepfakes can imitate a CEO, spoof a politician, or create a media moment that never happened. For companies making high-stakes decisions, the cost of getting fooled is enormous.
GetReal’s pitch is straightforward: you can’t trust what you can’t verify. Their platform aims to change that.
