Pro Surfer Mary Osborne Joins Go211 Social Networking Site

Posted on June 7, 2007 Written by Bill Hartzer

Mary Osborne

Go211.com is a premier action sports social networking and online video sharing site–and they’ve signed Mary Osborne to their team. Mary Osborne is a three-time women’s professional champion longboard surfer and is known for being a part of MTV’s “Surf Girls”.

Mary Osborne has been featured in magazines like Longboard, Surfing, Surfer, Surf News, Surfer’s Path, Wahine, Surf Life for Women, Surfing Girl, Nalu, FHM, Entertainment Weekly and Spin Magazine. Mary Osborne is also the first woman ever to be on the cover of The Surfer’s Path, a well-known European Surf magazine.

In 2003, Mary Osborne was nominated for a Teen Choice Award as “Best Female Athlete,” and was named the first “Action Girl of the Year” by Action Girl, Inc. Co-authoring “Sister Surfer: A Woman’s Guide to Surfing with Bliss and Courage,” with fellow surfer Kia Afcari, Osborne aspires to keep young women as the forerunners of surf. “I feel very fortunate to be able to communicate my dedication to supporting youths in this industry through the Go211 vehicle. I look forward to interacting with the site’s members and hope to be an inspiration to them,” said Osborne on joining the site.

Pro Surfer Mike Losness Also Joins Go211
On June 5th, 2007, Go211.com announced that professional surfer Mike Losness joined the Go211.com Pro Team. Losness will use Go211.com as his “exclusive online destination for social networking and online video to communicate with his fans, as well as post unique and personal content” according to Go211.

The modern day “Renaissance Man” of surfing, 26 year-old Mike Losness will bring a diverse set of skills to the Go211.com team. The San Clemente native has an artistic flair, and his unique style can be seen in and outside the water. Mike Losness has been crowned the National Scholastic Surfing Association champion three times, and has become one of the rising young talents on the pro surf scene.

Mike Losness is also a contributing photographer for many surf publications and is an accomplished painter, with many of his boards featuring his own artwork. Known for his insane aerials, Losness’ laid-back personality and humble demeanor have made him a favorite among fans and the surfing community. “Being able to reach out and connect in this fan driven community is something I’m really stoked about,” said Losness on joining the Go211.com Pro Team.

Go211.com is a web site that has behind-the-scenes video, blogs, photos and podcasts from the site’s featured contributors and action sports fans. Go211.com has a lot of exclusive content–submitted directly from the athletes. Go211’s current list of athletes includes Holly Beck, Cheyne Magnusson, Mike Losness, Danny Kass, Jereme Rogers, Christian Hosoi, Mitchie Brusco, Jamie Bestwick, Seth Wescott, Kelly Clark, and Ben Watts among others.

Update June 2017: This site is no longer up and running.
