Fresh Content Is Crucial To SEO

Posted on February 25, 2014 Written by Bill Hartzer

One of the biggest things that anyone needs to know about search engine optimisation, or SEO, is that fresh content is still king. Letting a website sit dormant for months or even weeks can cause it to fall behind. It can quickly become outdated. The search results ranking will drop, potentially falling out of the top 10 search results or first page, which is where the vast majority of people look for their keyword search query. In order to use local SEO in Brisbane to your advance in order to stay on those top pages, site owners have to focus on fresh, high quality content as much as possible.

One key reason why SEO in Brisbane and other regions in Australia has changed to incorporate fresh content is that the search algorithms are designed to take people to popular sites that really give them what they are looking for. It does not matter if they are trying to buy a new pair of shoes or book a flight to Sydney; when the search is run, the goal is to make sure that the top results are sites that are active. These are the sites that most often offer the goods and services that people were looking for in the first place. Regular updates show that a site is active and in regular use, making it more valuable.

On top of that, SEO in Brisbane is changing just because the search algorithms are always changing. Did you know that there were around 500 changes made to Google’s ranking algorithm last year alone? While these changes were mostly minor, there were a couple of huge ones that ended up in hundreds of thousands of website penalties. If SEO is going to be successful, it has to be catered to connect with what the algorithm wants. That could be very different in three months than it is right now, so SEO in Brisbane has to be done in a consistent manner to incorporate new requirements or tactics.

Overall, you must remember that the end goal of your local SEO in Brisbane is to bring people to your website, but the goal of a search engine is to get people to the results that they desire. Only when those two things come together can both sides have success. The work that is done for SEO in Brisbane must be geared around showing the engines that the site is valuable and desirable to the readers. This demonstrates that it deserves the traffic, which is now more of a factor than it has ever been before in the history of the Internet. One way to do this is to keep updating the content on your site while creating valuable content and publishing it on other websites to be references to yours. This does not mean to go out an get a ton of guest post links. Google and other search engines are smart enough to notice when a site has a majority of a certain type of backlink (i.e. guest posts, sponsored posts, local directories) and they will penalize your site based on an unnatural link profile.

Avoid this and get your site ranked naturally through valuable content. I always recommend adding a blog to your website (if you don’t already have one) and establish Google Authorship in order to update site content naturally.
