I think the title of this post, “be careful when choosing an SEO” (search engine optimization) professional really says it all. But be especially careful when choosing a Penguin Recovery Service.
I know that many businesses (probably you because you’re reading this) have suffered a major traffic loss and loss of revenue because of the latest Google algorithm updates: mainly the Google Panda and Google Penguin algorithm updates. And, as a result of this, we’re now seeing an influx of “SEO snake oil salesmen”, as I like to call them, pop up all over the place, selling “Google Panda Recovery services” or a “Google Penguin Recovery Service”. So what’s the problem?

A while ago, the task search engines were accomplishing was to deliver a result page matching the keywords in the query box. The process to get top ranked was then so straight forward that poor websites started to pollute the result page. Google had to react and the Panda update got released to chase down low quality websites.
Unfortunately, good websites were hit as well due to the low quality SEO around them. If this is what happened to your website, it is time to fix things up. If you know what the Panda update is about, the return to the top is not unrealistic. SEO is dead, long live SEO.

First off, I would never ever deal with someone who sends UCE *Unsolicited Commercial Email* SPAM to me. Let alone someone who offers a penguin recovery service via spam email. I find it kind of hilarious that someone like this sends ME email like this. But I digress. It happens all the time because I own a lot of websites. I find it kind of odd that “Allison” sent me the email, but it’s signed by someone named “Anuj Kumar”.
Secondly, the grammar in the email really is poor. They’ve literally keyword stuffed the latest “buzz words” into their email subject, like “Google Panda” and “content marketing” in there, then they go on to even add “Top 10 Rankings” in there as well. Hilarious, if you ask me. Classic keyword stuffing, and they’re doing exactly what Google does NOT want you to do. If they keyword stuff their emails, then what do you think they will do with your website?
Finally, take a look at the whole entire concept of their email: they are saying that they can help your website get out from under the “Google Panda” algorithm update (penalty) if you’re suffering from Google Panda. Sure, OK, I get it. But what’s the problem? They are saying that they do “local listing, social bookmarking, document sharing, article directories, press releases, etc.”. Google Panda is not related to links to your website. It’s Google Penguin that’s related to links–NOT Google Panda. So, building horribly low quality junky links to your website using “local listing, social bookmarking, document sharing, article directories, press releases,” will NOT help your website recover from Google Panda. It has nothing to do with links!
Who Should You Hire for Penguin Recovery
If you were to hire a firm such as the one that I just mentioned to do “local listing, social bookmarking, document sharing, article directories, press releases, etc.” for you, you would get into even MORE trouble the next time the Google Penguin update is refreshed, as these are exactly the types of links that you do NOT want to build to your website right now. Or ever.
So, be extremely careful when you hire someone to help you with Google Penguin. You have to first start with someone who knows what they’re talking about, someone who knows the difference between Google Panda and Google Penguin (that would help)! By the way, I do know a lot about recovering from Google Panda and Google Penguin, I’ve helped a lot of businesses get back on track. I personally have a lot of experience over the past few years (since Google Penguin first was unleashed by Google) and have been offering a penguin recovery service for websites hit by the Google Penguin updates. One client came to me after they paid another service called “Penalty Be Gone” to remove a Google penalty from their website. That “Penalty Be Gone” service tried several times to remove the Google manual action (Google manual penalty) from the client’s website. But they failed. I personally stepped in, told “Penalty Be Gone” to stop working on the penalty removal, and I was able to get that penalty removed in “the first try”.
