Microsoft Doesn’t Play By The New Rules Anymore

Posted on June 23, 2014 Written by Bill Hartzer

When it comes to playing by the new rules, Microsoft apparently has thrown in the towel. There apparently aren’t any new rules anymore. And Microsoft has decided, for whatever reason, that they don’t want to play by the new rules anymore. At least when it comes to domain names.

Play by the new rules

Of the 19 domain names that Microsoft has failed to renew in the past 24 hours, there are three that apparently Microsoft doesn’t want anymore. They haven’t renewed these names, meaning that you soon can “play by the new rules”:

playbythenewrules.com
playbythenewrules.net
playbythenewrules.org

In fact, here’s the whois record for PlayByTheNewRules.com:

Warning—Incomplete Record
The record we received from the Whois server may be incomplete.

No match for playbythenewrules.com.

So, does this now mean that there are no more new rules? Apparently so. PlayByTheRules.com is registered, PlayByTheRules.net is for sale, and PlayByTheRules.org is also registered. Maybe if you want to define the new rules, you might be interested in registering these Play by the New Rules domains. Microsoft apparently doesn’t want them.

Just for the record, there were 16 other domain names that Microsoft failed to renew, as well:

aa-autoroute.com
celula-academica.com
celula-academica.info
celula-academica.net
celula-academica.org
covergence.biz
despegatupotencial.com
despegatupotencial.info
despegatupotencial.net
despegatupotencial.org
msfamnetwork.com
msfamnetwork.net
msfamnetwork.org
msifn.com
msifn.net
msifn.org

Oh yeah, and by the way, I did a little research (meaning that I Googled it): “Play by the New Rules” was the slogan of the Microsoft India Development Center, Hyderabad, back around 2008.
