Donuts, Inc. Adds 7 Generic Top-Level Domains

Donuts Inc., a registry for new generic top-level domains (gTLDs), has added seven new generic top-level domains that will soon be available for new registrations. There will be 13 registrars where you can register a new domain name using any of these 7 new gTLDs.

This means that you could own a domain name such as BMX.BIKE (rather than or even SEO.GURU (an alternative to There has been speculation as to whether or not these new gTLDs are actually going to take off. Personally, I am kind of on the fence about it. I still think .COM will prevail, and although .plumbing will be available, such as Dallas.Plumbing, I really prefer rather than Dallas.Plumbing. And at this point I think that .com will ultimately prevail and more of the public will think about .com than something different.

Here are the key dates for getting your .CLOTHING or .SINGLES domain name:

— If you are a trademark holder, you must reserve your name between November 26, 2013 and January 24, 2014.

— If you want to grab a name (reserve one of these names), then general availability to all registrants will start on January 29, 2014.
