Zvents, a local search engine for events, has named Paul O’Brien as Director of Marketing. Mr. O’Brien will lead Zvents’ corporate communications, corporate and brand marketing, their go-to-market strategy and planning, and Zvents’ search and internet integration.

Paul O’Brien was previously the head of interactive marketing at Hewlett-Packard’s direct-to-consumer Home and Home Office Store and has a lot of experience in search, social media, and results-oriented marketing.

While working at HP, Mr. O’Brien was responsible for paid search marketing, search engine optimization (SEO), search strategy, performance-based display advertising, comparison shopping catalog integration, and strategic affiliate direction.

Prior to working at Hewlett-Packard, Mr. O’Brien managed the Advertising Solutions division at Yahoo! where he directed marketing campaigns for a lot of Yahoo!’s main advertisers. He oversaw sales programs operations and the development of portfolio marketing techniques for the technology industry in Small Business, Yahoo! Shopping, Search, early instances of Yahoo! Tech, the Yahoo! Homepage, and other properties. Previously, he was a consultant for various web portals designing and developing Web sites, e-commerce, and marketing strategies.
