Hi Bill,

I definitely can't deny the huge potential that social media and communication technologies got to offer. Yet I wonder although PR may need to change slightly the way companies and organisations communicate to its now wide publics, do you think the same, old principles still apply? Like well- planned campaign with consistent message, well-targeted audiences, and approriate methods of evaluation and measurements...are still applied? The communication tools changed and yes we have to adapt to changes yet audiences can still get NUMB with social media if it isn't managed properly to foster benefits of both parties: organisations and its stakeholders....

Hi Bill:

Thanks for this post which makes explicit the benefits of social media. The ephemeral nature of traditional media certainly gives the internet a major advantage.

A lot of PR activity takes place without any web presence. How much more effective could these become if they were to leverage these through the internet?

Regards,
Hans
