Business.com is Being Shut Down

Posted on November 11, 2010 Written by Bill Hartzer

Business.com

Business.com is being shut down. Well, technically speaking, Dex One is realigning its interactive operations and will fully integrate Business.com into Dex One. The company, in a press release today, says that they plan to phase out Business.com, primarily a national business-to-business sales and marketing operation and focus exclusively on the Dex One business.

You might recall that in 2007 Business.com was acquired for $345 million.

It really is a shame that Business.com is going to be shut down. I know several organizations that get quality leads from advertising on Business.com and as search engine optimization professionals we have always recommended that companies get a Business.com search engine directory listing.

Dex One will continue to manage the Business.com site and support existing customers through an extended transition period. Following this period, Dex One will continue to control all rights associated with the Business.com brand and URL. Business.com customers with questions can call 1-888-441-4466.

The Dex One interactive operations are based in Santa Monica, Calif., and are responsible for developing online and mobile solutions that distribute local business information to consumers.

Update
Business.com apparently is sending out emails to current customers. This email was forwarded to me:

Dear Business.com Customer:

I am writing to you to let you know that Business.com’s parent company, Dex One Corporation, has decided to fully integrate Business.com into Dex One. As a result of the integration, Dex One will phase out Business.com’s standalone, national business-to-business sales and marketing operation.

We sincerely appreciate your support of Business.com and want you to know that we will continue to manage the Business.com site and provide you outstanding customer service through an extended transition period.

If you have any questions, please contact your sales representative or call customer service at 1-888-441-4466. In addition, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at 310-586-4017.

Again, we appreciate your business and look forward to continuing to bring you the highest quality leads possible.

Sincerely,
Patricia Neuray
Vice President Sales and Marketing
